Today we caught up with Youth Engagement Officer, Luana Pontes; the newest addition to Team Bubble. Luana joins us as part of the Jack Petchey Internship Programme 2024.
What attracted you to this role here at Bubble?
After graduating university, I wanted to find a workplace that allowed and encouraged me to exercise my skills in creative writing and give me invaluable industry experience. Working for a theatre/arts organisation has always been part of the plan for me. I enjoy the Arts and have always wanted to be a part of the movement that happens behind the scenes, connects with youth groups, and shares what we do with the world. The Youth Engagement Officer role at London Bubble gave me this opportunity; to exercise my copy and content writing skills, properly introduce me to the world of PR, marketing and communications AND throw me into the domain of a (youth) participatory arts organisation.
What can you bring to Bubble that you think we need?
I’m not afraid to try new things when it comes to social media and content creation. I’m quite perceptive when it comes to figuring out the latest trends and trying to jump onto them as soon as possible. Bubble is already a super fun and creative environment, I think that our social media platforms need to see more of who we are and how that aligns with what we do to increase our social media engagement. With my creative thinking, I’m always ready to think outside of the box. This will come in handy when thinking about ways to share the projects we do in private with the world.
What do you think about the rest of Team Bubble?
Everyone at Bubble has their own vibrancy and uniqueness that makes Team Bubble so colourful! We have an amazing, supportive and patient work environment. The Team is incredibly friendly and easy to get on with too. At first I felt a bit like a fish out of water, but Bubble are quick to pull you back into the water and make you feel at home. And that’s not just our office staff, Team Bubble is everyone who walks through our door to help us deliver our projects: practitioners, freelancers, participants, alum, board members, trustees etc
What has been the most challenging part of your job so far?
The most challenging part of my job so far has been navigating WordPress with Elementor. I’ve used website CMS in the past, but Elementor is quite advanced and different to what I am used to. Nonetheless I’m having fun and feel super proud of myself when I update the website without any problems.
What has been the most surprising thing about being part of the Bubble team?
It’s between never knowing who is going to walk through the door, what snacks are in the office that day and what social event may be taking place after hours. Everyday at work the energy is different. There may be two people in one day and almost twenty in the next. There is always something to snack on and the kettle is always on call. Every week there will some kind of reunion, and it’s so clear to feel that everyone loves what they do.
What are you most looking forward to this year at Bubble?
I am most looking forward to connecting with the WHOLE of Bubble and being part of the Bubble community. I’m eager to attend all of our productions, take part in projects across the board and hopefully go TikTok viral.
