Practitioner Training: Making Forum Theatre

London Bubble has a long and successful history of using forum theatre to engage communities in conversations about power and oppression. As the first organisation to bring Augusto Boal to the UK in the 1980s, it is a key part of our history as well as significant part of our practice today. Since 2011, forum theatre has been central to our Young Theatre Makers programme. Eighteen different shows for young audiences about the disempowerment that young people face have been devised and toured, enabling discussion and interaction with themes including mental health, abusive relationships, crime, racism and family.

Led by Bubble’s Artistic Director, Marie Vickers, sessions will be practical and reflective. During the four sessions you will participate in exercises, see a piece of forum theatre, devise scenes, apply jokering skills and practice interventions.

We are keen to engage practitioners underrepresented in the industry because of gender, race, religion, ability, age, culture, class, economics, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
