Let’s assume the cast, all hard working civil defence workers by day, have created their show to entertain shelterers at the height of the Blitz in May 1941. There is plenty of evidence that such shows actually happened. Warden posts organised their own cabarets, revues and productions of thrillers. They were not concerned with the ‘professional polish’ of their finished product. They were expressing their collective talents as members of a beleaguered community for the amusement of that community.
