LEARLIKE by Greensleeved

What happens when Shakespeare’s King Lear is reimagined through the eyes of four young women?

Greensleeved are a female-led European ensemble formed of Amber Frances (Belgium), Ariela Nazar-Rosen (Poland/US), Lucy Doig (Scotland), Julia Vredenberg (Norway), and MAKE SPACE! alum Cecilia Thoden van Velzen (The Netherlands) focusing on reworking classical texts through a contemporary female lens.

Join them for a one-off public sharing of LEARLIKE, before they take their bold new work on a European tour!

SYNOPSIS

LEARLIKE tells the much-loved story of King Lear through the perspective of his daughters. These tireless tyrant-children are fresh in power, but old in their ways of manipulation and deceit. Or are they? For even in the most corrupted homes, the roots of resistance grow deep…’

EVENT DETAILS

Interested in Taking Part in the Workshop First?

To celebrate their work, share their tools and discoveries with everyone who feels Shakespeare isn’t for them, Greensleeved are inviting young women aged between 18 and 25 to join them for a free creative workshop about reworking Shakespeare’s King Lear from a female-forward perspective.

You’ll be part of the creative process, and your work will feed directly into the public sharing, helping devise new scenes, reshaping old ones, and giving voice to the daughters of Lear — Goneril, Regan, Cordelia, and a brand-new rebel: Isode.

Open to all experience levels.

The workshop will take place from 12.30pm-2.30pm at London Bubble Theatre, SE16 4JD.

Please note that you CANNOT book tickets to the workshop on this webpage. Please click here for more information and to attend the workshop.
