Our latest partnership with SpeakerBox, saw 5 young people take to the stage at Theatre Peckham with a dynamic performance piece about their aspirations, identity, and life in London.
‘Our Voices: A Musical Story’ featured musical compositions inspired by drill, R&B, AfroBeats and more. This brand-new performance invited a private audience to listen to the voices of young people from Southwark’s Children in Care Council.
the process
The project grew from a suggestion by SpeakerBox members back in 2022 during a creative consultation session about how race and culture impacts young people’s experiences of social care.
After working together in six Monday evening workshops and four full day workshops, the young people used drama, music, poetry, and design to explore the stories that mattered to them, express themselves and create bold and original theatre!
