The Measuring of the Mayflower is a family-friendly interactive event to explore how 133 people, plus provisions and livestock, fitted into the available space on board.

Over the course of the afternoon we will measure and mark out a footprint of the Mayflower - using what we know about the dimensions of the boat, and then load the passengers and livestock into the space. We need lots of people to help us reach the total number on board in 1620! Sea shanties will be sung and the imaginary boat will be blessed with flame - as was the custom to see off bad spirits.

The event will also be a space to consider more recent migrations.

Come and watch, come and take part in this family friendly event – the youngest passenger on the Mayflower was born on board!

Open to all, under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
