Help us Illuminate Rotherhithe

Eden Arts lantern procession

Take part in a series of free lantern making workshops led by local artist Cathy Wren, and then teach others how to make them. The workshops are part of Illuminate Rotherhithe, a series of events seeking to engage the different communities within Rotherhithe and explore elements of local history. They will culminate in a community lantern procession on 23rd November.

We are looking for volunteers to
- Make a lantern for the procession
- Support us in delivering lantern making workshops to other local groups, including older adults that we work with in sheltered accommodation
- Take part in the procession on the evening of 23rd November

- Help steward the procession

Times & dates
To help at the workshops, you would need to come to one (or both) of our training workshops on Tuesday 24th and 31st October from 6:30-8:30pm at London Bubble Theatre (3-5 Elephant Lane, Rotherhithe SE16 4JD)

Once you have attended a training workshop, we are looking for volunteers to offer support at one or more workshops in late October/early November:

Public workshops on
25th October, 11-1pm
18th November, 2-4pm
19th November, 11-5pm

Sessions with groups of older adults on

3rd November, 10:30-12:30
7th November, 2-4pm
8th November, 1:3-3:30

All of the workshops are at our base in Rotherhithe, or nearby.

Volunteer as a steward

The procession will begin at 5pm on November 23rd at Mayflower Park, Lagado Mews. It will pass along Albion Channel, cross Albion Street, and end at the river bank behind Brunel Museum. Accompanied by music from Les Zoings, a marching brass band from S.E. London who play a medley of songs from around the world bringing musical frivolity where'er they walk, it's set to be a joyful community occasion. We need volunteers to travel with the procession as stewards, to help keep everyone safe and together. If you would be interested in volunteering as a steward, send a completed volunteer registration form to Georgia on georgiac@londonbubble.org.uk or get in touch for more information. An induction and training will be provided.

We are particularly keen to engage with volunteers aged 59-69
